Edwards has been training for the last five years under Scott Sheeley at the Ohio Fitness and Martial Arts Center. Sheeley, 43, is a former world kickboxing champ and MMA pro.

Edwards also travels to Cincinnati once or twice a week to train with Jorge Gurgel's MMA club. Gurgel was a competitor in season two of TUF and also trained Sheeley.
On his Facebook page, Gurgel had this congratulatory post: "Now we have a good reason to sit down and watch TUF. Our boy Justin Edwards gets to the house next episode! I already feel bad for the others."
